This trendy boutique on High St. in Potosi is the perfect place to grab a special gift for your mom, sister, bestie or to treat yourself! Don’t forget the gentlemen in your life! Miss Kim’s offers great gifts for guys too!
The shop has a dramatic and uptown feel as soon as you spot the building on the main drag in town. The decision to paint the storefront black was a bold one, and one that Kim was a bit nervous about at first, but now she knows that the finished product has the effect she was going for. It certainly makes the shop stand apart from other storefronts in town.
This edgy vibe translates well into the interior of the store, from the vintage industrial feel of the exposed ceiling to the variety of classic and stylish gifts. You can expect to see a very fashion-forward style in home decor, clothing and more.
There is a great balance of classic and modern styles with a rustic flavor. Kim has two young daughters who help offer input on the trends and what appeals to the younger generations. There are also great classic pieces that particularly speak to Kim, attracting any demographic.
She is always on the look-out for new product lines and keeps up-to-date on the latest styles. Kim stays in tune to the seasonal styles for the year and is dedicated to bringing the most current fashions to local shoppers. She is proud to showcase new fashions in her shop which makes top-of-the-line, fresh style, available to the Parkland.
Kim opened the boutique in the old hotel in 2012 after a career as a professional photographer. When deciding to do something new, the option of opening a small brick and mortar business of some kind was only natural. She shared that it was something “in her blood” as her parents use to own the old general store in Caledonia, and her brother and his wife still own and operate the 1807 Farmhouse antique store near Caledonia.
One of her goals in opening this type of store in such a small town was to provide a place for local people to find unique and quality gifts. Something that they couldn’t find at the local box stores. Kim said that many people come in and mention that they are surprised how trendy and high-fashion the shop is, stating that it should be in a much larger town.
Kim shared that she is excited to expand the clothing selections in the near future. Be sure to check in to see new lines and styles soon!
Miss Kim & Co. partners with local businesses in Potosi and Caledonia on their seasonal shopping events, such as the annual Chocolate Walk in December, and this year was the first time for their Sweetheart Stroll on Valentine’s day weekend. These events have different shops and businesses that participate. As you go to each one on the map, you get to participate in drawings, giveaways, and one grand prize for those who visit every stop on the walk.
Events like these help cultivate local economic growth for the locally owned brick and mortar businesses. Kim hopes more storefronts on High St. will get the spruce-up they deserve and reopen the beautiful, historic buildings with new awnings and new ideas.
Stop in at Miss Kim’s frequently as the inventory and styles are updated regularly. See the most current styles in gifts, clothing, and home decor!
